Except Vader is PS3-exclusive and Yoda is 360-exclusive.
I am displeased by this, because I can't afford a PS3 and I want me some Vadering. |

The justification is that Namco hope you'll buy both versions.
What they hope you won't do is buy a Gameshark instead, like I did for Soul Calibur III so I could play as Night Terror. |

Yeah that's weird, it shows a Lucario face but no Mewtwo face? O_O Unless it only shows it for characters you've unlocked (cause it would be pretty silly if it showed every possible character, even ones you don't know about yet, on that little menu).
I wouldn't write off Mewtwo just yet. Heck I don't know if any of this is legit, or has any meaningful bearing on anything. For all we know, those little faces just represent other stickers with the same stats.
I'm not gonna get my hopes up about Ness again, just to see them be destroyed. : P
Edit: Actually the evidence is pretty impressive - apparently Nintendo took down the video with the initial clips, then put it back up...without those parts!
...could it be?!?!? Could this be, like, the most epic, unexpected night ever? Cause hell, if Ness is back in, this gives JK and his quest to see Marth and Roy return hope as well! OMG!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this Mewtwo de-confirmation info was something officially stated, but now that you mention it and I look around a bit, it looks like this is nothing but premature speculation due to the fact that Mewtwo isn't among the listed fighters who can use the Groudon sticker. Hehe, yeah. I mean, logically, it's only gonna show the faces of characters that you've unlocked. Maybe they were filming a video of those stickers with a version that hadn't unlocked Mewtwo?
Edit: This update is cool and all, but it's been effortlessly eclipsed by news of this tri-character leakage. _________________ [quote="Someone's sig on the AoC forums"]THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. What's this "35" everyone's going on in the thread?
Oh, Lucario's interesting, but not really surprising. Dude got a movie, and is pretty popular even stateside. I can imagine him being super-popular in Japan.
I will always welcome back jiggs. Adorable little kamikaze ninja.
Ness? Super happy for Chiz and others. My heart flutters with faint hope of Marth/Roy's return, but the very real possibility that Lucario replaces Mewtwo frowns disapprovingly at me. |

I have to admit, I'm shocked to see Ness back, given the fact that all but one of his special moves were given to Lucas. At this point I just wonder how drastically Ness will have to have changed.
I wholeheartedly endorse Lucario, or any Pokemon PC from a generation beyond the first, for that matter (Pichu didn't count). I never really cared about Mewtwo... I suppose I do feel a bit bad for his fans, though, and I reckon he'll make a cameo at the very least (SSE boss, mayhap?).
And finally, re: Jiggs, QFT @ JK. _________________ "" |

Just to destroy Ness hopes, that's the Pokemon Trainer's head among those characters (which makes more sense seeing as they're all Pokemon down there). And I'm pretty sure that since Lucas' character page says Ness has been in every one "up until now", it's highly unlikely Ness'll be back, since Lucas has some of his attacks.
Of course, weirder things have happened.
Anyway, talking of Lucario, I'd be surprised if he wasn't a character now. Like's been said, he has a movie, as well as having a cameo as a trophy in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Hell, he's even on the front of special release Pokemon card tins. |

Well you could say the exact same thing about Mewtwo. So actually I would guess Mewtwo is being replaced. Like Kevin said I'd expect him to be in there somewhere, though. Kinda sad; I always liked Mewtwo. Hell, I used to play Mewtwo before I really got into playing Samus.
That said, Lucario's cool, I have one in my Diamond team. He should have some pretty awesome moves. ;[
As for Ness: Yay! But he'll be changed a lot. I hope this is for the better.
As for Jigs: That's awesome too. There's not a lot more fun than to spin off and kill people randomly, over and over again, when you want to just mess around. _________________ when the world is sick, can't no one be well? but i dreamt we was all beautiful and strong

Why does everyone seem to think Lucario's addition means the end for Mewtwo? Are the characters really that similar in fighting styles? I don't know much about Lucario, but I thought he was kind of fast and a melee fighter whereas Mewtwo had psychic powers...
Besides, if Brawl's goal is to pump the game full of as many stages, characters, and music tracks as they can, what motive would they have for replacing any characters from previous installments? _________________ IM THE DUDE PLAYIN THE DUDE DISGUISED AS ANOTHER DUDE

I just thought of something very pessimistic (yet still somewhat optimistic): what if that's just a Ness costume you can unlock for Lucas? You know, like the Dark Link costume for Link?
Also, @Lucario: I pretty much stopped playing Pokemon after Ruby and Sapphire (mainly because I don't have a DS...), but it says on serebii.net that Lucario is a Fighting/Steel type, which would hardly be an adequate replacement for Mewtwo's sheer Psychic awesomeness. So if Lucario does replace Mewtwo, I will be a sad 'un. _________________ BRAND NEW FCMidi Forums! |

The two aren't related, per se. The thing about Mewtwo is that his mug doesn't appear alongside the other four reps'.

This, I can't answer. We can only hypothesize that for each franchise, Sakurai pulls an arbitrary number out of his arse and declares that to be the "right number" of PCs that said franchise "deserves". If his magic number for the Pokemon series is 4 (as it was in Melee), then in order to include new characters (Trainer, Lucario), others would have to be cut (Pichu*, Mewtwo**).
* Obviously.
** Hypothetically. _________________ "" |

Lucario is actually pretty versatile-- he's got the stats to effectively run either a physical or special attack moveset. So, while he could be a meleer, he could just as easily be the sort to shoot shadowballs and fling people around with psychic.
People are thinking Mewtwo's been replaced because the sticker in question (groudon) effects all Pokemon, except Mewtwo. There's no real reason to leave him out of a plus-poke-power sticker, so he absence is suspicious. It's not confirmation that he's out by any means, but it does infer the possibility.
Plus, 5 poke reps? Does any other franchise have that kind of character represenation, plus it's own little item to shove in 10-20 more characters? I wouldn't care, myself, but others seem to, so maybe Sakurai does as well...

It seems really silly to include a pic of an alternate costume on a sticker. |

Of course, it could also be possible that Mewtwo just isn't allowed to have that sticker. Maybe it's like, an increased air-time sticker or something, and giving Mewtwo that would just make it silly, since he already was able to float for a bit.
I dunno. It just seems weird. Sure, there's a lot of pokemon, but there's so few psychic characters, and to have that fighting style just dissapear is such a waste... Unless Sakurai gave Ness Mewtwo's moveset, but that would just be WTFish. _________________ [quote="Someone's sig on the AoC forums"]THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow. Hello? What was I saying somewhere in the first few pages?
I looked up this Lucario bugger on Wikipedia, and I have to say I'm not convinced that little black splotch confirms... it. Especially since in the photo on Wikipedia, its ears are blue.
I don't think I need to mention how glad I am to see Ness psuedo-confirmed, though. Like I said when I saw Lucas's special moves, it's entirely possible they gave Ness a new set of special moves to go along with his old physical moves (which, you may remember, are different from Lucas's). Ideally we'd see PK Flash, Rockin, and possibly Hypnosis. PSI Magnet can stay, though (despite the fact that it wasn't Ness's move either).
Jigglypuff: Eh. You know if it weren't for the existance of that Rollout move for comedic value (and for my purposes, Kirby being able to copy it), Jigglypuff would have no purpose, right?
As for today's update: well, bleh. I sure hope that one arrow comes out DAMN fast, because that's the only way they could make this move not fail. _________________ This post has been brought to you by

EXCUSE ME WTF R U SAYIN?! Rest is more powerful than FALCON PANCH! It could destroy the whole Universe (provided the Universe has at least 30% damage already). Seriously, Jigglypugh* was my 3rd favorite character for Melee. (I lied about Pichu. Pichu is a giant puddle of manure.)

It looks like one of those attacks with a short pause beforehand, but then it comes out instantaneously. Yunno, like Fox's Side+B in Melee.

Hmm.... that'd be crazy. To be honest, a couple of Mewtwo's moves were too situational... I wouldn't mind seeing 'em changed up. Damn, now I'm anxious to see what the Lucario update (if he ever even does one) will look like.
| Quote: | | Plus, 5 poke reps? Does any other franchise have that kind of character represenation, plus it's own little item to shove in 10-20 more characters? I wouldn't care, myself, but others seem to, so maybe Sakurai does as well... |
Well, in Melee, there was Link/Young Link/Zelda/Sheik/Ganondorf. Although, if you count that as 5, then it means that Pokemon now has Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Lucario, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. And considering those are all different fighting styles, and not clones like link/young link... yeah, Pokemon sure has a lot! Not that I mind, I think having as many different types of Pokemon in there as they can fit is pretty sweet. _________________ [quote="Someone's sig on the AoC forums"]THis game really is more geared towards the adult then, teenbeat wow.
