It's like an in joke between me and Izzhov. He is ridiculous and I am ridiculously mean in return.

But at the end of every episode you patch up your differences and go for ice-cream.

Still playing GTA IV, by the way. Just passed the mission Last Checkout, which is teeth-grindingly hard.

Precisely! We had IRCream just last night.

EarthBound Zero is a commonly-used fanterm to distinguish it from the SNES EarthBound, and personally, I don't see any fuss about using it. I'm not going to go about calling both games EarthBound, and I prefer the name "EarthBound" over "MOTHER" (although "MOTHER" has more in-game significance).

By the way, EBZ only featured the usual censoring, but also a great number of enhancements from the Japanese original. It's just infinitely easier to refer to it as EBZ rather than "the English prototype version of the NES version of EarthBound," and any MOTHER fan would understand to what I am referring.

Yeah, but the free online Tower Defences were based on the Warcraft III one, because the very first of them even said so. Just because the Warcraft III mini game is a copy cat it doesn't mean people can't copy the copycat, if ya nomesayin'. Razz

It is yes. The RPG element adds extra depth but at it's heart it's still just a Harvest Moon game. Which is good.

SO. MUCH. YES. Highly addictive, iffn you get into it. Though I'm getting frustrated by not knowing which monsters do what.... it's way better than having to buy them, but I also hate that you have to WATER THE GRASS. DX

That is my personal fav as well. I liked to watch the TV on Fridays for this super corny show that was a lot like Power Rangers. /randumb I was sad the 'for girl' version never made it to America... ;

Eh, Magical Melody was ALRIGHT, but didn't keep my interest for very long. Entirely too much effort to unlock enough notes for the Harvest Goddess. e.e;;;

And of course there's Rune Factory, but you'll probably want to try a more traditional/pure one first.

Ah, yes, the original one for SNES. I remember seeing that advertised in NINTENDO POWER and about keeled over from happy. 'OMGZ YOU CAN GET MARRIED AND JUNK THAT'S SO CUTE A;LFJASD;LFHAS;DFJ'

Advise to female players: don't play it while on the phone with your friends. Awkward conversations may and will occur.

"OMGZ WHY IS MY WIFE MAD AT ME?!?!"

o.o You have been warned.

Er, it wasn't the NES version of EarthBound? It was the prequel to the game we know as EarthBound. Unless you just mean that both games are "technically" called EarthBound in America, only one never got released.

EarthBound Zero = MOTHER
EarthBound (SNES) = MOTHER2
EarthBound 2 = MOTHER3

Yes.

Haha, I'd imagine that that would get weird. I'm sure likewise for those of us guys who'd play the girl's-side games. Razz

Also: Tales of Vesperia's second playthrough with 2x EXP gain is SO EASY. :O I'm going through and getting all the Secret Missions so I can get a special title (which I think doubles as a costume title?).

I know that it's really the first game in the series, and not the prototype of the SNES one. I just meant it was technically called EarthBound. However, the English version of the NES game is still regarded as a prototype of what would have been a final product.

Yeah, there's lots of stuff on this game that requires a look on GameFaqs. I printed out a sheet with some of the most vital stuff so I don't have to check on the internet each time.
BTW, the magicians (find them in the second cave, they fire ice beams or fire at you) will water your crops. Get about 3 or 4, brush them everyday and they'll water the first 6 or so rows on your farm all the way across. So just scatter the grass there. It's annoying though, because no matter how much grass I stockpiled, I still had to buy some when Winter came as you can only store 99 bits in ecah hut and that goes down too fast with 4 animals over 30 days.

BTW, once you upgrade your house you really get a second wind as you can do forging, decoration, cooking and pharmacy. To get as much money as soon as possible for this, mining is your best option, especially in the second or third dungeons. It's a pain to get all that lumber though.

Also, who are you thinking of marrying? I was going to go for Misty, but then decided on Felicity as it would be cool to marry the Mayor's daughter. I'm cooking her eggplant curd everyday so it's not long now.

I liked that bizzare romance story on TV, The Fairy and Me /ashamed.

Ahh, good times with that game. Although it did get boring once I'd married (Ellie the nurse) but before that I was spending all my free time on it.

I wonder what Rune Factory 2 will be like.

Also, have you played any of the Wonderful Life games? When I first saw the reviews I was really excited about it but I didn't have a Gamecube. But the my friends (who were equally obssesed with HM) got it and weren't impressed. Now it's out for PS2 but I don't know wheter to bother finding it or not.

Innocent Life is another one I'm not sure about.

And of course, Save The Homeland never came out in Europe.

Kirby Super Star Ultra; I've pretty much beaten everything up to The Arena. I've completed Helper to Hero with about four helpers, but I still have yet to finish The True Arena. And honestly, since I'm not a fan of boss rushes, I don't think I care to go any further than that for some time. Looks like I'll be stuck at 98%, then.

Still, 'tis a damn good upgrade. Way better remake than Nightmare in Dream Land was.

Medieval - Total War. I keep getting addicted to this game on and off. It's so fun. I don't bother with the live battling bit (since I'm crap at it), so I've been getting better and better at the tactical, map-based side.

Also, the Viking Invasion add-on is awesome. Smile

Personally I liked having the mix of a few big dungeons and lots of little ones.
Plus the epic feeling sailing across the map gave, with massive islands looming out from the distance.

I will admit though, I do wish the islands were a little bit closer/you could sail faster.
Still, great game.

Yeah, a lot of people complained about the sailing, but I really loved it. There were times I wouldn't even use the wind-flute thinger just so I could sail more.

That game had so much great stuff going on in it, it's too bad people whined to the point where Nintendo couldn't release the sequel on the Wii.

I never played Phantom Hourglass btw, I heard it was pretty gr8 tho.

I used to hate the sailing, but then I learned to suck it up and appreciate the beauty of this world they've created, and now I love sailing from island to island. Very Happy I guess that as I got older I was able to better appreciate it, I dunno. I was, what, 12 when it came out?

Phantom Hourglass was REALLY good. Not quite TWW caliber, but still fantastic. I stayed up till two in the morning every night until I beat it. If I have any complaints with it, it's that music is sparse. There are maybe four distinct island songs. :/ But Linebeck makes up for it greatly.

The best part about Wind Waker was/is the immersion. That's why the sailing was actually rly gr8 imo. Also the sidquests. Some of the sidequests in Wind Waker were sooo fun. (I got to like the 3rd or maybe 4th to last dungeon, so I was able to do a fair number of them.)

Yeah, and the fact they were split up on different islands really added to the feel of exploration. The fact you actually had to seek out these lands rather than being shunted down a set path made it seem really non-linear. Thinking about it, more games should have islands.

Another thing about the side-quests that I loved on this game (and some of the few others that do it) is that there were loads on the main island (Windfall) yet they were spaced out. You kept coming back thinking you'd done everything there was to do and find a new secret or something. Plus they weren't signposted so you stumbled on or figured them out yourself which added to the excitement.

I don't want to go through a game missing out on every little secret because they're so well hidden, but I don't want a PDA flashing up the exact details of every mission and sidequest all the time (even if that means looking up FAQs for 100%). It got the balance right.
