I enjoyed how you took apart XKCD. My only beef is the power he wields over his audience. If he feeds them something in the guise of a puzzle, math, science, or computer joke, they leap to obey. Look at geocaching, look at his meetups, look at the YouTube audio commentary. It's scary.

I think you might be overgeneralizing a li'l bit. That's like saying all Christians are religious wackjobs who always give to televangelists and make websites about how Democrats are the antichrist. Just because they're the most "out there" from their group, it doesn't make them the only (or even the most numerous) subset of said group.

I sure love double posting! Blank approves!

Well, the reason he thinks it sucks is that there's nothing more to it than just the references. But there is, he just doesn't get it. So I'm saying his statement is false.

No, it kind of isn't. He almost always puts a clever twist on the original thing being referenced. I'm pretty sure it's just that you don't understand it and that's why you think it's only references.

Well, see, Fragg, all of that is just dandy. Those are actual defensible criticisms of the comic. All I was saying is that comparing it to Family Circus seems a bit odd when the only similarity between them is the fact that they are both comics and your subjective dislike of them.

Mindless fanboys are fun.

That's blatantly false. Izzhov never attacked Fragg's character, only one section of his argument (that the humor of xkcd is dependent on shallow reference alone), which is a perfectly logical counterpoint.

That's a good point.
How the heck did this topic turn into an xkcd debate??

Well, there should be an xkcd video game so I can have been playing it recently.

I like xkcd when it's not being maddeningly smug or technical. Wednesday's strip was funny because it pointed out an oddity and made fun of it. Today's strip is, as Sammich's link states, crap. Don't make me research your jokes Randall! Also you are not as funny with politics as you think, although that might just be me hating all political cartoons instinctively.

Anyway, I'm playing Final Fantasy Kefka. The dialogue is dire but it's a fun piece of RPG action so far. Good to see Kefka wastes no time being a complete bastard.

I didn't like today's xkcd either. I like really technical ones when I understand the reference though. I think if you look it up, though, it's not as funny as it would have been if you already knew about it.

Oh, I was playing this for like 45 minutes yesterday, but them I beat it. Short but sweet.

EDIT: I love how the site Lunar linked to has an RSS feed. Laughing

I've just finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Layton = Epic) and now I've moved onto Wii Music. Yayy!

Started Gears of War 2 co-op at 3:30pm, finished at 3:13am with half an hour's trip to the off-license and an hour for dinner. I desperately, desperately need sleep and urination.

Okami.
A massive adventure game based on Japanese mythology.
Really brilliant.
On a par with, if not better than the Zelda games.
Only criticism I can think is that combat is a bit weak but it more than makes up for it with loads of fresh touches such as the brush mechanic and the lovely painted-style visuals.

It's been out for a while so you should have heard of it anyway, although apparently it didn't sell very well.
You can get it on Wii.

Guitar Hero World Tour.
Does anyone else have this?
If so, did anyone find it hard?
I got it on the 25th.
It's the 28th, and I've beaten all the hardest songs.
Even Satch Boogie and Hot for Teacher.
I mean, c'mon.
Are there any more hard ones?

It didn't sell very well because it's an entirely original and good game.
That's how video games work, apparently.

I'd really like to pick it up, though.

edit: Good grief, Lynkstar, you suck. D: I was talking about Oukami here, people, okay, okay.

hahaha, kaos posted right after lynkstar so kaos looks like he's replying to lynkstar and I laughed because guitar hero world tour is not "an entirely original and good game" also it sold well

Last game I played was the newest Prince of Persia. I liked it, but I guess alot of people aren't happy with the open-ended game structure because they like the plot in a platforming game thrown at them like a brick to the face.

The Klonoa series. I just recently beat Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil. Shame that the handheld titles aren't near this level of quality and fun.

Oh yeah, and Okami is fun too. Good thing I have the PS2 version; lack of credits and ending movie in the Wii version is a huge turn-off, and the motion controls seem awkward. Contrary to what anybody may say, the Celestial brush techniques aren't hard to pull off with the PS2 controller unless you lack a left hand.

Ooh, I have Lunatea's Veil. I got it ages ago. It's fun.

I hadn't heard that. Any good reason for there being no ending movie in the Wii version?
Also, you can't get demon fangs in the loading screens in the Wii version.

I just bought Twilight Princess! Yes, I realise everyone's probably played this already but I hadn't yet, and I love it. I've only had it for two days but it's fantastic so far. It's been such a long time since I last played a 3D Zelda.

Also, Secret of Mana is on EU Virtual Console. I'm getting that soon, and I never played it before, so yay!

I've been playing Pokemon Diamond. It's really fun, tbh. I just got Dialga.

Dialga is kind of good.
